Had an odd dream last night. Well, it wasn’t so much a dream, as nothing happened, but my brain just kept thinking – never a good sign – about Doctor Who. And after I wrote this post saying how I wasn’t that excited about it this year, too.
The thing is, I read this piece on Cultbox the other day, suggesting that perhaps the current series is actually being played out in the wrong order. And last night, my head took some time out from being Red Dwarf mad, and was whirring as I thought about this theory.
The series can continue at Christmas and in the New Year, into the Anniversary celebrations, and the mystery of who Oswin/Clara/Whoever actually is, and how she ended up as Souffle Girl, might be the big thing of next November’s big shebang. Which, using twisted backwards logic, culminates in her “Remember me” in Asylum…
Fascinating stuff, no?
Anyhoo. I’ve been wearing Red Dwarf t-shirts all week. I’ve only actually got four these days, so they’ve been in a loop. But tomorrow’s episode, Fathers & Suns, sounds great. [Warning – slight (synopsis based) episode spoiler at the end of this paragraph. Should’ve mentioned it before, but…forgot. Sorry.] Mind you, I’m bound to say that, but having had the vague memory of seeing Trojan back in January (though I could remember very few specific details – the Cat walking past with the map was, I think, the one thing I remembered seeing with any clarity), this week’s ep is all new to me, and returning to the idea of Lister being his own dad, but then adding the suggestion that he’s been a bad dad, I think is a great idea, with loads of potential. Can’t wait.
